The Pastoral Council is the most important body in the parish in terms of the relation to the pastor and serves him in an advisory role. The Council assists the Pastor in his ministry as chief shepherd of the local Catholic Community.
The role of the Pastoral Council is to examine, consider, conclude and assess. The Council discusses the concerns of the parish, especially those arising from the various ministries. It hears and discusses the reports from the Finance Council, the School Board, the Youth Council and other committees and ministries that are significant to the parish community. The Pastoral Council is also a visionary group. While remembering the past and reporting on the current life of the parish, the Council also looks to the future and assists the pastor in envisioning parish life. The Pastoral Council provides input and periodic oversight for the Pastoral Strategic Plan. The Council supports the preparation of an annual Stewardship Report on the work of the ministries encompassed by its portfolio leaders and an annual Stewardship Plan for the work of the following year.
The Council comprises leaders of the ministry portfolios (Liturgy, Community, Evangelization, Service), the Staff Portfolio Liaisons, At-Large members, and representatives of the various Councils in Service to the Parish. Additionally, the Clergy, Director of Operations and Finance, and School Principal serve as ex-officio members of the Council and may attend meetings at will. Also, the appointed Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary of the Council are members. For a complete roster of members, please CLICK HERE.
