Catechists

Our Program:  HSYM (High School Youth Ministry) serves as the Faith Development program for youth in grades 9-12.  It is divided into two (2) parts – Sacramental Preparation (Confirmation and/or First Eucharist), and Ignite! (11th & 12th grade).

The Goal of HSYM:  to create and nourish disciples of Christ; to help youth respond to God in faith and prayer; to help youth develop their Christian identity and personal faith through their Catholic values and demonstrated behavior.

Types of Volunteer Positions: Here at St. Thomas More we have catechists, small group leaders, hall monitors, and traffic control volunteers who all work together to make our program the best it can be! Reach out to Kristin to learn more about how your gifts and talents might work to serve our young Church. 

Time Commitment: Regular youth ministry volunteers commit to attending Sunday evening sessions (held about 3 out of 4 Sundays a month) from about 5:30 PM - 8 PM. Catechists can expect to spend an additional 1-2 hours preparing for class about once a month. However, we are always looking for occassional volunteers who assist whenever they are personally available!
